Atrit built what became their family home by hand on Oak Grove Road just outside of New Hope. He provided for his wife and family by farming, raising cattle and logging. He used oxen for traveling to Arkansas and Louisiana to work.
Atrit often entertained his family by playing the juice harp. A favorite memory of him was each Christmas he gave everyone a new silver dollar and orange slice candy.
Fannie remained a homemaker and was an active member of the Oak Grove Church of Christ. She loved attending gospel singings. Her talents included crocheting, quilting, gardening, and took pride in growing gorgeous flowers.

Atrit and Fannie Hill lived long productive lives in their Oak Grove home. Atrit died while having his dinner at the age of 95 years. Fannie lived alone for several years following Atrit's death. Her failing health required nursing home care. She died to days prior to her 95th birthday at a Huntsville Nursing home.
