David was the son of John and Catherine (Moser) Harless of Madison Co., AL. He
married Nancy Lawler, daughter of Jesse and Julia Lawler in April of 1851.
David Harless is listed in the 1860 and 1870 Madison Co., AL census records.
After the death of his wife, Nancy Lawler, David married Mrs. Elvira Prosser
in 1875, the widow of a blacksmith (who was killed in the Civil War). He moved
his family from Alabama to Texas in 1878 shortly after they married. Elvira's
health was poor and she died a year later (1879). Reportedly he married
Deannie Butler in 1883. David is listed in the 1880 Collin Co., Tx. census
(with children but no wife). David and Nancy's children were Mary Eliza
(Moon), William, James Allen, Jessie Robert, Zacariah, David Jehu, John
Wilson, Ben F. and Nancy (Ward). David and Elvira's children were Oliver D.
and Bert W. Burial:
