Marshall Rivous Harless, Sr., 57, of Pulaski, passed away on Wednesday, August
15, 2007. He was born on October 20, 1949, the son of the late Clarence and
Hazel Weiss Harless. He was a loving husband, father, brother and proud
grandfather. He was an active member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church.
Marshall was a Vietnam Veteran, where he received two purple hearts and a
bronze star. He was past State Commander for the DAV for the State of
Virginia; past commander of Chapter 3 & 14 Vietnam Veterans of Salem, a Mason
of the Henry Clay Lodge #280 in Dublin and Henry Clay Lodge #309 in Eggleston,
and L.O.O.M. Lodge #284. He received the George H. Seale Award and was proudly
a "Golden Rodent". He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother,
Cecil Harless. Survivors include his wife, Patricia H. Harless of Pulaski;
four sons and daughters-in-law, Marshall R. Harless, Jr. and his fiancâÁ
Rebekah Austin, of Christiansburg, Marvin and Lisa Harless of Pulaski, Justin
Butler of Pulaski, and Andrew and Michelle Butler of Concord, N.C.; six
grandchildren, Brandon, Caleab and Timothy Harless, and Dale and Jacob Howard,
and Garrett Austin; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Winnie Hilty of
Portsmouth; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Lois H. and Donald Stafford of
Radford, Betty H. and James Roberts of Pearisburg, Patsy H. and Robert Bruce
of Christiansburg, and Diane H. and Scotty Fewell of Dublin; three brothers
and sisters-in-law, James and Helen Harless of Radford, Douglas (Mac) Harless
of Dublin, and William (Bill) and Betty Harless of Pearisburg; a
sister-in-law, Charlotte Harless of Williston, S.C.; and many nieces, nephews
and cousins. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 20, 2007 at 11
a.m. at the Fairlawn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Randy Morris
officiating. A Masonic service will be held at the church. Interment will
follow in the Highland Memory Gardens in Dublin where the military will
conduct graveside rites. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 p.m.
on Sunday, August 19, 2007 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. In lieu of
flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Fairlawn United
Methodist Church, 7590 Brandon Road, Radford, VA 24141. The Harless family is
