Ray Edward Harless, 78, of Madison, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, Feb.
7, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital in Charleston after a short illness.
He was born Feb. 17, 1928, at St. Albans, a son of the late John and Sylvia
Harless of Woodville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by
one brother, Dana Harless of Cottageville.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Danville, a former City Council
member and a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was the former owner of City
Exxon and Ray's Wheel Alignment. He was a school bus driver for Boone County
Schools for 25 years. Ray loved his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Jackie Ellis Harless; four sons
and daughters-in-law, Philip and Debby, Ronnie and Mary, Terry and Debbie and
Steve and Grace, all of Madison; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren;
one sister, Mary Margaret Shafer of South Charleston; and one brother and
sister-in-law, Charles and Marietta Harless of Carolina Shores, N.C.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, at Handley Funeral Home,
Danville, with Dr. Frank Frye and the Rev. Terry Holley officiating. Burial
will follow in Memory Gardens, Madison.
